In the midst of the tragedy that is unfolding in Iraq and Syria, the Chaldean/Assyrian community is extremely grateful for the people outside of their community who continue to pray and show support in any way they can. Since thousands of Iraq’s Christians have been displaced from their homes, having to flee in fear of their lives due to religious persecution, they left everything behind except the clothes on their backs and have been in dire need of everyday necessities that many of us take for granted. Many drives throughout the community  have been organized to collect items such as coats and hygiene products to be shipped to Iraq. As one activist was quoted “we are doing everything we can to help our suffering brothers and sisters feel an ounce of normalcy during these tragic times, and having these items shipped to them is a great way to keep the momentum of assistance going”.

One supporter, all the way from Oregon, shipped items to a warehouse in Michigan, a large box of hygiene products for men, women and children. The shipment had everything from shampoo, bar soap, toothbrushes, toothpastes, socks, undergarments, deodorants and more. It’s support like this, we have from people outside of our community that give us hope that one day soon, the Christians can return to their homes in the Nineveh Plains. We thank everyone for their continued encouragement and support.
